Pirate Attack on Container Ship- 8 Crew Made Hostage

As per the recent news coming from the shipping industry, a pirate attack took place on a container vessel, named TOMMI RITSCHER at Cotonou Anchorage, Benin, Gulf of Guinea. The vessel was at anchorage. The pirate came in speed boat. But ship already informed the coast guard. Upon seeing navy ship coming, the pirate boat left, but pirates were still on board. While 11 crew members managed to go in safe heaven or citadel, 8 crew members were still outside the accommodation.

All these 8 crew members were made hostage by the pirates. There are Russian and Bulgarian crew on ship. Container ship is 2014 built and Portugal Flag.

Over the years the piracy activity is on the rise in Gulf of Guinea.
