International Chamber of Shipping has released in its news that several reports have come from world wide of crew members are being denied medical assistance at various ports (NOT Covid-19 Cases). The reasons for sure are because of covid-19 restrictions that are placed all around the globe. But that should not be the case of being denied with medical care.
To address such an issue, ICS have released a documented advisory which talks about measures for safer crew movements in ports. Will this going to help and bend administration all round the world to give timely medical help to seafarers? That time will tell. But surely such discrimination towards seafarers being denied medical assistance is really disturbing.
More than 150000 seafarers are stranded in various parts of the world on ships and the need of the hour is to start crew change at a bigger scale.
