Established in 1998, the Tolani Maritime Institute is a public institution. The institute is well known by its abbreviated name, which is TMI. It is located in Induri in Pune, India. It is among the best maritime colleges present in India. It consists of about 1500 students in its campus pursuing different programs including distance learning programs as well. Tolani Maritime Institute was set up by The Tolani Group which is a ship management company in India. The group perceived a need for increase in the number of expert and sufficiently knowledgeable marine officers in the country.
Tolani Maritime Institute History
The Group has a long tradition of establishing and organizing institutions of advanced learning. During year 1995 to 1997, they were preparing to create a new campus-based institute that may become a university. Tolani Group’s was intensely aware of the need for well educated marine officers in India. Hence it was decided then in late 1997, that a new learning initiative should be made which can take the outline of a modern maritime institute. They aimed to create an excellent training provider in order to meet the standards of globalization. Tolani Maritime Institute has three major departments which are Naval Architecture, Marine engineering and Nautical Science.

Tolani Maritime Institute Admissions
Candidates have to fill an application form worth Rs. 1000 which is available on institute’s website. Payment for the application can be done online. Some necessary copies of documents such as birth certificate, passport size photograph, of mark sheets, online transaction receipt, etc. along with the printed copy of the application form have to be sent to the institute for admission consideration. Admissions for B.Tech programs are closed in August.

The institute consists of air conditioned classrooms, library, laboratories and an auditorium. The campus has three computer rooms set with best servers and workstations. It also has a Sports Complex. In terms of all the facilities required for the living and education are really good here.

This college is shit in terms of management. They are only running a business in terms of education. Nothing matters to them. At the time of admissions they act very helpful and until you pay the fees. Only meant money.
Value of Tolani has depreciated so much even BITS Pilani took its affiliation back. Now they are under IMU like all other colleges. So why you want to pay them so much for the same course which other colleges are costing only half the amount.
And there are lot of colleges who are having good placement. It depends on your individual performance not on college. So wake up to reality. By the time you will realise that you have spent so much money and time on a course which could have been done in a very cheap price still offering you same job. It will be too late.
