Indian Maritime University in a major move to help the students, have now shifted to online counseling. Students were anxious about when counseling will start, but now on the IMU official site they can start choosing their colleges. Earlier IMU used to call students to Chennai campus for counseling, which used to cause lot of problems for students like travelling etc. But now from home only they can do all the procedure that is needed for the counseling.

IMU CET Online Counselling 2016 Dates
The online counseling will take place from 20th May 2016 to 19th June 2016. The official Link for this is www.imu.edu.in. Students can lock their choices between this time periods. They will be assigned seats
as per:

1) The rank which she or he has scored
2) Course for which they are applying
3) Community like SC,ST etc
4) Number of seats available in that course.

IMU CET Online Counselling Procedure
Candidates need to visit official site www.imu.edu.in, for all the counseling related work. The link is ‘Online Counselling 2016’. Students needs to submit a fee of Rs 10,000, which is non refundable. This is done in regard to that only committed candidates will be participating in counseling and it will decrease any type of spam locking of seats.
After locking their seats, students should wait till 25th July; a list of candidates with their name of college which they will be getting will be published. But this list is provisional only and candidates will be given final admission once they are able to meet all the criteria during verification of documents.
A sum of Rs 25000 or Rs 27000 as applicable will be paid by students at the time of verification which will seal the college for him or her. They need to take admission to the given college in the prescribed time, failing which will lead to loss of seat.
IMU may conduct another round of counseling if all the seats are not filled. Another round of Counseling may be online or Physical, depending upon the condition that will prevail when such situation arises.

Because seats are only some1600.
Also in the seat matrix there are 10 affiliated institutes but in brochure it is 36.So whts the matter. Is the number of seats fixed or may increase ?

sir, I have got 6663 rank in imucet 2016.but they have mentioned there are only 366 seats for B.Tech marine engineering. can expect a seat in any one of the college in B.Tech marine engineering?please sujest as soon as possible.
