The shipping giant, AP Moller Maersk, which is keen on becoming carbon neutral, is expanding its investment in the same to cut down the emissions. As per the reports, company will be putting Air Lubrication System on one of its ship. If you hear the industry experts, this system tends to give around 10% reduction in energy consumption. The company will install one of Silverstream Technology’s proprietary Air Lubrication Systems which tends to create a air bubble carpet around the hull, so it have less resistance with water and hence lesser load on the engine. Maersk is also coming up with METHANOL powered ships which are due to be out of the yard from the year 2023.
