MOL Orders 4 New LNG Carriers From South Korean Yard

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) have said recently that they have ordered 4 LNG Carriers from South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., Ltd. (DSME). Ship are expected to be delivered by the shipyard in 2024. MOL will be signing time charter with NOVATEK Gas & Power Asia Pte. Ltd, which is a Russian Firm.

These new builds are equipped with new technology MAN engines. Capacity of these ships is estimated to be around 174,000 cubic meters. With new installments, yards promises that the boil off will be less and same will be liquefied in much better way by onboard re-liquefaction plants. Interesting fact about these ships will be installation of shaft generators onboard them.
