What is this STCW High Voltage Course
Recently when STCW amendments of manila came, there is a new regulation for the officers and electrical officer, who are working on board vessels having power production above 1000 V. Committee feels that officers who are working on these types of ships or who will, needs to have some standard training regarding the high voltage requirements and also the safety issues concerned with it. That being said, now candidates have to hold High Voltage course certificate by the end of 2016, to be able to work on ship having 1000 Volts generating installations.

Is High Voltage Course Mandatory
No and Yes also. Well if you never want to work on ships above 1000V power from generators installations, then yes, you don’t need to do this. But if you want to, then surely you have to do it.

I have studed High Voltage Ship
1. How specified the STCW about the high voltage ?
– The criteria for the hours of training and training courses are specified?
2. The date of entry into force of the agreement on 1 January 2017. So who does not complete a high-voltage education this date will not be on board the ship high voltage?
3. There is a vessel referred to as a high voltage generator capacity specified above 1000V, 440V does so with a boost in the production of vessels including high voltage?
