One of the Maersk container vessel, MAERSK VILINIUS reported to have fire in the engine room. The fire was brought under control by the crew, after hours of struggle. Fire seemed to have damaged the propulsion system of the as Ship cannot use the engine. Master of the ship asked for towing assistance from the shore. As per the news, two high capacity tugs were arranged to bring the vessel near to the shore for further repairs. Vessel is heading for port Elizabeth. The incident took places near located 190 nautical miles (350 km) east of Guadeloupe. The structure of the vessel is not affected. So far no news of any injuries to the crew has been reported. Further details are to be reported by the company on this matter.
Vessel is 2010 built and Singapore flag.
