The duration of this course spans six months and serves as a pre-sea program for General Purpose Rating, commencing on the 1st of January and 1st of July each year.
This comprehensive, residential course is approved by the Director General of Shipping, Government of India. Its syllabus encompasses a combined study of both Deck and Engineering subjects. Upon completion of the training, external examinations are conducted by the Board of Examination for Seafarers Trust.
Graduates who successfully pass the examination are granted an Indian CDC (Continuous Discharge Certificate) by the Shipping Master, Government of India. This certification opens doors to opportunities for ship jobs across the globe.
Upon course completion, students have the prospect of joining ships in various roles, such as trainee Ordinary Seaman (OS), trainee fitter, trainee oiler, or trainee engine room cadet (for Diploma holders).
Eligibility Criteria
For the General Purpose Rating Course:
The course has a duration of six months.
During the course, there is no provision for leave or sick leave, making it imperative for candidates to commit fully.
This is a residential course, and hostel accommodation is mandatory.
As part of their training, candidates will engage in practical work, including the upkeep of living quarters and campus facilities.
