To be eligible for the course, candidates must meet the following criteria:

For those who have completed 10th Standard:

Pass the 10th Standard from a recognized Board with English as one of the subjects, with a minimum of 40% marks.
Score at least 40% marks in English in the 10th Standard exams.

For Diploma or Degree holders:

Pass the 10th Standard from a recognized Board with a minimum of 40% marks in aggregate.
Score at least 40% marks in English in the 10th Standard exams.
Have a Diploma or Degree that is recognized by any State or Central Government or the AICTE.

Note: The upper age limit for candidates is between 17.5 and 25 years on the date of commencement of the course. Candidates belonging to SC/ST category are allowed a relaxation of 5 years in the upper age limit. For candidates holding a degree or diploma, the maximum age limit is 27 years, and a relaxation of three years is permitted in the upper age limit for candidates belonging to Non-creamy layer of OBCs of any part of the country.
