A Happy day for lot of seafarers today. Executive Ship Management flew a chartered direct flight from Mumbai to Singapore for carrying out crew change. This was the maiden chartered arrangement for the company. Indigo Flight took off 8:30 in the morning from Mumbai international Airport to shipping hub port in the South Asia. As per the news, crew change was done for multiple ships in Singapore.
It is to be noted that Singapore has relaxed norms for crew change. So, if seafarers who are completing their contracts can be signed off without any restriction. Also those with compassionate reasons can also be signed off. Returning seafarers have to follow the procedure as set by the government. In the past 15 days, shipping managers are switching to chartered flights for carrying out crew changes across some of the favorites ports like Colombo, Singapore. Various connections are available at Doha as well.
